About the session / Event
A one day FDP on” Research Ouptut Optimisation” was planned and organised at New Horizon College in association with Research and Development Department of New Horizon College of Engineering and IIC. The Resource person of the session was Dr.Vinod Kumar, Professor, Associate Head Innovation Ambassador, and Department of R & D New Horizon College of Engineering.
This FDP was designed in such a way that, first half of the session talks about the introduction of research, its importance in today’s academic environment, its need and its understanding, the requisites of publication among faculty members. . The second half of the session is about hands on training given by the resource person to the faculty members, wherein the resource person trained the faculty on research paper writing, identification of quality Q rated Journals, and the ease of getting publication through IEEE conferences.
The resource person Dr. Vinod made the faculty members understand the errors that are committed while sending the paper for publication in Journals, trained on the tricks that can make the paper selected in the Journals, as well touched on Plagiarism during the hands on training session. Also Dr. Vinod identified several generic issues faced by writers and addressed them accordingly. Some of them are as follows – fixed mindset of not being able to write, lack of creativity, lack of vocabulary, inability to convey one’s thoughts through sentences and uncertainty of where to begin the process of writing.
Faculty members in general appreciated the resource person for the session, overall the FDP was fruitful and benefitted by the faculty members. Finally Faculty members thanked the Management, Principal, Resource person Dr. Vinod, for given them opportunity to attend such a valuable FDP programme, and the commendable support rendered by R & D Department of NHCE. The feedback is very positive and encouraging, 32 faculty members got benefitted from the session.
Objectives if the session:
- To help the faculty members to understand the need of publishing rated Journals which are recommended and accepted by various educational institutions.
- To highlight the various avenues of publications. The generic issues faced by the faculty members during publication
- To highlight the errors that are committed by faculty members while submission of their research paper to the journal.
Outcome of the session: This session benefitted faculty members, by a good understanding of Research publication, generic issues, and plagiarism
