CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP

The 2nd One Day National Conference titled EMERGE-Evaluating Major Economic Responsibilities for Growth and Evolution: Analyzing Progressive India, presented by IQAC and organised by New Horizon College, Marathalli was held on March 3, 2017. The Conference proceedings began with an inaugural dance by Ms. Amrutha, IV Semester BBA, followed by a video presentation by our student volunteers. Dr. M K Sridhar, former Professor of Management, Bangalore University was the Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony of the conference. In his keynote address, D. M K Sridhar, spoke at length about the uniqueness and growth of the Indian Economy and urged academicians and researchers to move from populist sources to credible sources of research. He further said that globalization and indigenization would have to be adopted together, to enable faster development of the Indian Economy.

The resource person of the first technical session, Prof. Madhurjya Prasad Bezbaruah, Director of Gauhati University of North-East India Studies addressed the delegates on the evolution of Indian Economy, the Reforms and Post Reforms shift of Trajectory and the case of North Eastern India’s transformation from the periphery to mainstream.

The resource person of second technical session, Mr. Vishwanath Akella, Co-founder and CEO at SimplyFI Softech discussed and laid stress on the disruptive thought processes that are revolutionizing today’s digital and highly competitive world. He quoted examples of multiple hyper disruptive business models and their impact on the Economy.

The paper presentation sessions witnessed 63 paper presentations across 5 track rooms. The presentations covered a wide gamut of research topics along the theme of the Conference. Some of the prominent topics that were deliberated on include Internet of Things (IoT), Block Chain Technology, Digitisation, Cashless Economy, E-Commerce, Social Media marketing, Green marketing, Digital marketing, Sustainable Energy sources, Impact of Demonetisation, Government Initiatives and its effectiveness, Financial Inclusion, Corporate Social Responsibility, Competency Mapping, Disaster Recovery Suit with Shadow Processing, Smart production channels, Piracy issues in India and so on.

The deliberations and discussions that ensued in each of the tracks were highly insightful and enriching. The Conference concluded with the valedictory ceremony wherein the best paper awards were declared and various delegates shared their valuable impressions and feedback on the conference. All the participants were immeasurably benefited from the knowledge sharing and thought exchange that proved to be the essence of EMERGE-Analyzing Progressive India.
