Women’s Day Celebration at NHCM

Women’s Day celebration was held on 8th March which began at 10.30 am in Chanakya Seminar Hall, New Horizon College Marathalli. A talk was organised on the topic “Self-care: Preventive Measure” by the resource person Dr.Jayanthi S Thumsi, the senior oncologist currently working in BGS Hospitals, Bangalore. The program was attended by all second and third year girl students.The program began with a powerful quote by Vivekananda read out by Neha, II semester BCA followed by an interesting story signifying women’s day celebration. Sandhya VI semester BCA welcomed the speaker by reading out her job profile and welcoming all present for the program. The speaker Ms.Jayanthi S Thumsi delivered an informative and very useful talk by touching upon the problems of youth like relationships, social media, peer pressure etc., and guided the students on what has to be given priority. She also shared her knowledge about breast cancer,where she explained the ways to detect the early symptoms and the ways to get it cured. An awe-inspiring video was played to motivate the audience present and also remind them their strengths and potential to reach higher levels in spite of the barriers fixed on woman’s path to success. A skit was enacted by a team of II Semester B. Com students which portrayed the stereotypical chores that women are expected to perform and the victimization of women through domestic violence, female feticide, and gender discrimination in terms of education.Mrs.Sayanthini Bannerjee gave away a sapling and memento to the guest of honour as a token of appreciation and gratitude.The Chairman Dr. Mohan Manghnani and the Principal Dr. R Bodhisatvan were thanked for giving an opportunity to organize the program.
