Seminar on Legal Awareness and Student Responsibility: Understanding UGC Regulations with Respect to Anti-Ragging

The Anti-Ragging Cell, together with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), held a one-hour seminar titled “Legal Awareness and Student Responsibility: Understanding UGC Regulations with Respect to Anti-Ragging” on 28th September 2026 in the Main Auditorium. It was for first-year B.Com, BBA and BCA students, and its aim was to raise awareness about ragging and to promote a safe, inclusive and respectful campus.

The resource person, Ms. Premashree A, Advocate, VGB Associate, Bengaluru, explained what ragging is, the forms it takes and the harm it causes. She covered the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations and the college’s own anti-ragging policies, along with the legal and disciplinary consequences of ragging. She also spoke about students’ rights and responsibilities in keeping the campus ragging-free, and showed students how to report incidents and reach the Anti-Ragging Cell and other support services.

The seminar helped new students understand the ill effects and serious consequences of ragging. It reinforced that every student has a part to play in upholding dignity, mutual respect and a safe learning environment. The event was coordinated by Ms. Meghana C N under Cell Head Ms. Ronicca M S, with the help of a team of student coordinators.
