About the session/event 

A one-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Understanding IPR Protecting Innovation in the Modern Era” was planned and organized and New Horizon College in association with the Research and Development Department of New Horizon College of Engineering and IIC. The Resource person of the session was Dr. Agalya V, Professor, Associate Head-R&D, Head of IPR cell, New Horizon College of Engineering. 

One day FDP was designed in such a way that, the first half of the session talks about the introduction of IPR, its importance in today’s business environment, its need, and its understanding and IP Law and Practice. The second half of the session is about hands-on training given by the resource person to the faculty members, wherein the resource person trained the faculty on drafting Patent applications. 

The resource person Dr. Agalya made the faculty members understand how to draft patent applications in the hands-on training session. Faculty members in general appreciated the resource person for the session, overall the FDP was fruitful and benefitted by the faculty members. Finally, Faculty members thanked the Management, for allowing them to attend such a valuable FDP program. 

Objectives of the session: 

  1. To help the faculty members understand the concept of IPR, and its importance. 
  1. To highlight the need for filing IPR, in specific Patent. 
  1. To provide a hands-on experience for Drafting patent applications. 

Outcome of the session:  

This session benefitted faculty members on broad ideas of invention, IP law and practice, patent filing routes, patent drafting, publication, Patent specification, and claims of patent.
