Faculty Development Programme for Teaching Faculty

A three-day Faculty Development Programme was organised by New Horizon College, Marathahalli for it teaching faculty. The Programme was conducted by the New Horizon Quality Assessment and Skill Development Center, (NHQASDC) at the Falconry Hall, NHCE. Ms.Prasanna Prakash (HOD of BCOM & BBA) and Dr.Nagaraju Killari (HOD BCA) were the faculties- in- charge.

Day I focused on Learning Theories and the resource person for the day was Dr.VijayaKumari (Retd. Principal, Vijaya Teachers College). Prof. PrasannaPrakash, HOD, Dept of BBA welcomed the gathering and coordinated the session with Prof. Dr.Dr.NagarajuKilari, HOD, Dept of BCA and Prof. Rajesh.H, Dept of BCA.

Day II focused on the need for Innovative Teaching Techniques and its purpose was to evaluate traditional methods of teaching as well as multimedia teaching and to suggest other useful teaching methods that could be attempted in the classroom. The Resource person for the day was Ms.HimaBindu – Education Program Analyst, NHQASDC and the specific focus was on Student Centric teaching.

Day III of the FDP was organized around three focus areas: communication skills, team building and stress management. It was divided into two sessions. The morning session from 9.30 am till 1.00 pm was conducted by Dr.Sowmya Narayanan (Prof& HOD, Centre for Life Skills and Lifelong Learning, NHCE). The afternoon session from 2.00 pm till 4.30 pm was conducted by Ms.Sunitha, life skills coach on stress-management and an enabler in the field of employability at NHCE.

The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Nagaraju Kilari and Ms.Serah Sudin who thanked Dr. Narayanan, Ms Sunitha and the NHQASDC facilitators on the behalf of all the participant faculty members, for putting together such a well-conceived programme for us.
