FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Faculty and Student Enrichment Programme

The Faculty and Student Enrichment Programme was organized on 14 August 2026 at the Geosmin Manufacturing Unit, Doddakallasandra, Bengaluru, for students of the ED Cell, RED Cell, and final-year BBA and B.Com programmes. The field visit aimed to create awareness about sustainable development, waste management, social entrepreneurship, eco-friendly products, and the importance of supporting local communities and businesses.
During the visit, participants were introduced to innovative products made from natural and biodegradable materials such as banana fibre, jute, cotton cellulose, and sponge gourd. They learned how waste and bio-waste can be transformed into useful products, promoting the concept of “Waste as a Resource.” The session highlighted sustainable manufacturing practices, reduction of plastic waste, and the role of local entrepreneurship in environmental conservation.

The programme also emphasized the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the “Vocal for Local” initiative, and the importance of preserving traditional crafts and cottage industries. Students participated in an environmental awareness quiz and gained practical insights into sustainable living and responsible business practices. An eco-friendly bamboo toothbrush was presented to all participants as a symbol of promoting sustainability in everyday life.

The programme successfully enhanced students’ understanding of sustainability, social entrepreneurship, waste management, and community development. It encouraged participants to explore innovative business ideas that benefit society and the environment while inspiring entrepreneurial thinking among students and faculty members.
