The Rural Entrepreneur Development Cell (REDCELL), in collaboration with IQAC, organized an educational field visit to the ICAR – Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) on 14th November 2025 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This visit provided students with an immersive learning experience in horticulture and agricultural research, showcasing the scientific methods that drive modern farming and crop management.
A total of 47 students from BCA, B.Com, and BBA programs participated under the guidance of Mrs. Sowmya H L and student coordinators Ms. Bhavana K and Ms. Blessy Keerthana. They learned about plant breeding, sustainable farming practices, pest management, and the use of technology in improving crop yield.
The visit also highlighted the connection between horticultural research and rural entrepreneurship. Students explored how scientific innovations can inspire ventures such as organic gardens, sustainable farms, and small-scale agribusinesses. The trip encouraged curiosity, innovation, and a practical understanding of how horticulture can serve as a sustainable career path.
Overall, the field trip successfully combined education, innovation, and inspiration, bridging academic learning with real-world agricultural practices. It strengthened students’ appreciation for research-driven solutions in promoting sustainability and rural enterprise.
