About the event:
In association with IQAC, Commerce Club conducted a seminar for B.COM students.
OBJECTIVE:
- To help the students build knowledge about financial statements.
- To help the students develop an understanding of the importance of knowledge about the analysis of the balance sheet.
- Help the students realise the need to analyse a balance sheet as an external party to the company.
- To guide the students on the strategies relating to investing in a company.
In association with IQAC, the Commerce Club conducted a “BALANCE SHEET INTERPRETATION” seminar on 04.11.2024 in the Chanakya Seminar Hall. Students from the second semester participated.
Mr. Darla Nagaraju, a New Horizon College faculty member, was the seminar’s resource person. He has completed an MBA from SV University and an MCOM from Vikrama Simhapuri University, where he secured first rank and is currently pursuing PHD from Sri Krishnadevaraya University. Mr Darla Nagaraju received the Pratibha Award from the AP Government, has Published 15 papers in various journals and has attended multiple national and international conferences. He has also worked as an Assistant Professor at Rao’s Institute of Management Studies, an Assistant Professor at Audisankara College of Engineering and Technology, an Assistant Professor at Vision College, and now a Senior Assistant Professor at New Horizon College.
He briefed the students on the various terms appearing in a balance sheet and then explained the techniques and ratios used in analysing it. The students also realised the importance and applications of learning to analyse a balance sheet. Once the students were briefed, they were given three different case studies to solve. Each section was assigned a different case study. The students who initiated the interpretation of the given cases in the best manner were appreciated through certificates.
The students who received the certificates are Amogh Devraj Patil, R Pravalika, Sirish and Samantha.
OUTCOME:
The students were able to develop their IQ knowledge, and it also helped them to understand the techniques for analyzing a financial statement.
